Standing in line at Target...

waiting, waiting, wishing the cashier would ring up the items for that poor lady a little faster... for all of our sakes. Couldn't he see that the new mom's 2 week old baby was on the verge of a meltdown... wait for it... okay, MELTDOWN! Is there anything more unnerving than the cry of a newborn?

I watched the frazzled, exhausted new mom frantically cram her wallet into her tussled diaper bag and rush toward the exit door without her newly purchased Target treasures, only to tromp back apologetically whimpering something about needing a brain adjustment. I felt her agony all too keenly... too personally.

It was then that I heard the elderly lady behind me sniffle. I turned around as she said, "Oh, I remember those days. Oh, I miss those days. They come and then they're gone." I paused, looked down at the bleary eyed red head sitting so patiently in my cart, 2 minutes from his own "I need a nap" meltdown. I stopped and kissed him all over his little head until he grabbed my face and gave me his "Bundle Kiss". The cashier chuckled at my slobbery face and the new friend behind me said, "You make sure you treasure every one of those." Oh, I will.

Saying goodbye

to Aunt Bethany and Uncle "Wyan". They stayed with us their last night in Nashville before starting on their adventure in Brazil. They are already deeply missed by all of us!

I love how Uncle Wyan and Bundle have the same expression on their face in the one photo.)

"I'm on my knees..."

and sound asleep." This might be my favorite of Madigan's sleeping positions. I just think it's so cute.

Cookie Yummmmmmmmness

I did a little experimentation with my chocolate chip cookie recipe today and ended up with a very yummy finished product. We ate our fill in warm yumminess dipped in fresh milk. Good thing we're not counting calories!

Here's the basic recipe:

Chocolate Chip Cookies
1 cup butter, softened
1 1/2 cups white sugar
1/4 cup brown sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 1/2 cups oat flour (grind oats in blender until fine flower)
2 1/4 cups whole wheat flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup sour cream
2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 cup finely chopped pecans

Bake on 350 for 13 minutes or until lightly browned on the bottom.
